Registered Name. Rauss
Barn Name. R
Gender. Gelding
Age. 4 years old
Height. 15.1 hh (154 cm)
Breed. Pintabian
Direction. Though Rare Soul Stables was training him in low level eventing, LcdM is turning their attention towards his career at Liberty (training him next to My White Armani) and pleasure, in deference to his sensitive nature
Phenotype. Buckskin Tobiano
Genotype. Ee/AA/nC/nT
Markings. Classic Tobiano markings, hind left sock, white stripe in forelock, black stripe in tail
Show History. N/A
Offspring. Unable to produce offspring
Conformation. Very leggy, with a rather fine face, his Arabian heritage is instantly notable, though his neck isn’t quite as showy, more to his pinto side, as well as his well formed chest and shoulders and slightly barreled chest, while his rear quarters are a little more Arabic in their muscling. Well perked but un-Arabic ears are set onto a head with a small Arabic muzzle, but no true classic Arabic dishing of the features, and his eyes are well set and expressive.
Bloodlines. Not entirely known, but his dam was Arabian while his father was a Pinto. LcdM is trying to look into more of his bloodlines.
Other Images. At Rare Soul Stables
Registries. Hopefully with the #HARPG-PHR and #The-Gelding-Society
Personality. He is calm, has nice movements, a very pleasant fellow to be around in the barn. However, he gets upset about anything. He requires a very gentle rider, as he goes sad if you just pull on the rein just a bit too hard or give too urgent commands or if you pat him just a little too hard. But if you do, some gentler petting or some praise, even some sweet words turn him back normal. His mouth is very soft, and any little cue from his rider will be responded to instantly, as well as more negatively if the command is even a little too rough.
Learning the extent of his sensitive nature, LcdM worried briefly that those who owned him before Rare Soul Stables were abusive somehow, but when they tracked down the stables who bred him they saw nothing but utmost care and courtesy to the horses in their keep. So, with an unkindly past eliminated, LcdM turned their attention to treating the gelding like any of the other spirited and unique horses in their care; as a unique case. Soft bits were arranged, every handler and trainer was alerted against using a crop, just in case, and after a few test runs on the Eventing field, it was decided to turn the gelding in another direction.
Jumping was a strong point, which he carried gracefully, and his long legs supported graceful movement in the dressage ring, but the cross country field often harbored points where a command would make the gelding lose his composure and interest. Training him at Liberty next to the example of the Egyptian Arab Armani seems, thus far, to have been a fantastic choice. Armani seems to all but ignore the little gelding during every session, but Rauss quite obviously looks up to the white stallion, and eagerly tries to mimic his every move.
History. Bought by Rare Soul Stables as a yearling, he was put up for sale when they saw that he wasn’t being put to as much use as he deserved. LcdM put in their bid after Stable Master Jonah Clarke saw his sale advertisement and happily fell in love with the rather adorable gelding.
Purchase Information. Rauss was purchased from Rare Soul Stables for a reasonable £7000
Artist's Notes. It was, honestly, an excuse to practice drawing classic Arabian show tack. I'm not quite satisfied, but its an improvement on previous attempts.

This gelding caught the Stable Masters (Jonah Clarke) attention in a sale advertisement. La Cour Des Miracles has always been interested in the Arabian breed, and its crosses, and this sensitive gelding took hold of his almost mother hen nature.

Tobias agreed to see the gelding with him and possibly make a bid, and with convincing from Jonah on the gelding's potential--with a little tender loving care--to become one of the stables competing dressage steeds. So, with a roll of his eyes at Jonah's mothering nature, he agreed to make a bid.
